On Monday,November 4th we shared a memo from Superintendent Russ Bennett announcing that starting January 6th students were to start paying 10 cents for each page they printed at school as well as for each copied side of a handout that they were provided to keep except for assessments.
You took this in stride, asked a few questions, and seemed to be ok with it. Why was that? We then explained that it wasn't true... no harm no foul.
But suppose it was real. How would you adjust to the new policy? How might you challenge it?
How did this scenario compare with the Stamp Act passed by Parliament on the American Colonies in 1765? That was simply a bad idea! What was wrong with the Stamp Act in principle? Why did Colonists react so much more dramatically than you?
What would some of problems be with charging students at Harmon for print-outs and copies?
